It is no doubt that Tori's work has touched many people on many levels. For me, Tori's music has been a friend. It is the strangest thing. When I need it, it is there. It makes me weak. It makes me strong. For the longest time I was only into the music but knowing Tori's music brought many more unexpected things to my life. I attended my first Tori concert during the Dew Drop Inn Tour '96. It was a truly moving experience. Later that year, Tori brought more unexpected things into my life. I was going through one of the most trying times in my life. Just starting a new school ,having boyfriend problems, and just all in all having a hard time. One night while I was waiting for class to start, I headed into a computer lab. After checking my e-mail, I noticed that I could access newsgroups. I couldn't really think of anything that I would be interested in. Suddenly, I thought...Tori. I posted on Alternative Female to see if there was a Tori newsgroup available. Eva answered with rec.music.tori-amos or rmta as the regulars like to call it. Funny thing is that I would eventually end up meeting Eva in real life a little less than a year later. I started posting on rmta and the rest is history. I have met some of the best people in the world through rmta. It is a place where I can go to vent, joke, learn, and oh yeah, get some Tori-relevant information. Participation in the newsgroup also helped to develop many other aspects of my life as well. For one, I got more involved in the world of computers. I built my first web page after seeing some of the work of other rmta-ers. To this day, I still get very motivated when I see what others are doing with their space on the web. It is really mind boggling to to realize how many things that I have come to know as a result of getting involved in rmta. I could write the "Six Degrees of RMTA". My Tori page wouldn't be complete if I didn't account my first meet and greet so here goes. In May 1998, I met Tori for the first time at the Unplugged Preview show. After all day waiting and trying to find out where the meet and greet would be, it happened! Before I knew, it, I was standing right behind the barricades. Of course, I have MtPB to thank for blocking me so I didn't get squished. I was so excited, I wanted to thank her for existing but I was so overwhelmed that all I could do was cry. She just looked at me with understanding and took my hand. I will never forget the cute sad face that she made when she saw my tears. I may never get the chance to thank her in person for making such great music and existing so that rmta could exist. I am using this space as a way to say thank you to Tori and all of those wonderful Ears with Feet who have welcomed me into your heart. Thank you! All you crazy peeps have definitely made liking Tori's music more of an adventure.
